Hengli Petchem to Start Test-Running New Refinery on December 15

Dec. 17, 2018

China’s Hengli Petrochemical Group will begin a test-running of its new oil refinery in Dalian, China on December 15. The date was behind the previously set schedule around the end of November.

Diesel fuel will run through the facilities via the pipes, and crude oil will be filled into the distillation tower around 7-10 days later. Experimental operations will occur for roughly 20 days and will utilize 500,000 tons of crude oil from Saudi Arabia. Normally, a new refinery will begin stable operations after several months since the test runs.

The unit will have a capacity of 400,000 bpd and will be the first private-owned chemical complex and refinery. Hengli will purchase 130,000 bpd of crude oil from Saudi Aramco for the unit.
