Borealis to Increase PP Capacity in Europe
Dec. 10, 2018
Borealis is taking a final investment decision to increase its polypropylene (PP) capacity in Europe, following the announcement of a feasibility study.
Borealis will increase the capacity of its PP facility in Kallo, Belgium. The added capacity will be 80,000 tpa and will come online in the middle of 2020.
The company also confirmed the start of the front end engineering and design (FEED) phase for the expansion of its Beringen PP plant in Belgium. The expansion is targeted at the end of 2019 and the kick off will be in mid-2022. Borealis will increase the capacity by 250,000-300,000 tpa.
The capacity expansion is making an optimal use of the additional PP supply from the new propane dehydrogenation unit in Kallo, Belgium.
